Project Introduction
The project is located in Jinsha River Valley at the intersection between Ningnan County of Sichuan Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture and Qiaojia County of Yunnan Province. It belongs to grade II of 4-cascade development in Jinsha River downstream area (Yalong River Estuary-Yibin). The project is mainly based on power generation besides sand blocking, irrigation and other comprehensive benefits. Reservoir normal storage level is 820 meters with total capacity of 18.8 billion cubic meters. Adjustable reservoir capacity is up to 10 billion cubic meters. The project has seasonable adjustment ability. Four-grade hydropower stations can be increased in downstream Xiluodu, Xiangjiaba, Three Gorges and Gezhouba, thereby ensuring output of 2.2 million kilowatts. Power output of 5.5 billion kilowatts can be increased in dry season. The main part is composed of river-blocking hyperbolic arch dam, underground plant on the right bank and flood-releasing sediment-flushing system. Hyperbolic arch dam is as high as 270 meters.
